(  Despite the odd hour, the centre of New York was full of life, basking in its million lights and busy with taxis transporting people back home from parties and galas. The harbor, on the other hand, was quiet, mostly abandoned except for a few lonely ships here and there. In the dark, the surrounding surfaces glimmered slightly as they were covered in frost, proving that the temperature was several degrees below zero.
