Some angst. I can be conscise, but sometimes I get distracted and then there's too many words and unnecessary sideplots.
Instead of one continuous narrative, I write in scenes. I think my natural writing media would be a theatre play, or a script for a movie.
20. Any fandom tropes you can't stand?
I'm not sure if you'd call it a trope, but I hate with a passion this scenario of a victim in an abusive relationship, who is continuously abused by her partner but through her bravery and power of love "changes" him or her and they live happily ever after.
It's not the "terrible relationship turns friendship/true love" that bothers me. That can actually make for a great story. What I hate is when you have a victim who is continually abused and suffers and suffers, until finally by the end her abuser "sees light", realizes he/she acted horrendously, true love ensures and they live happily ever after. HELL NO. It's usually stories written by 13 years old teenager in love with a sexy villain actor, and it sends all the wrong messages to the world.
Certain slavefics also hit hard my "yuck" button - if it's a non-con "relationship" where the abuse is justified or trivialized by the writer and "all the victim needs to do is accept it and be happy". Which is not to say all slavefics are bad - I've enjoyed a quite a few of them, but it's definitely a trope that needs to be handled with care.
Finally, I can't stand character bashing and I'm especially annoyed by it if it's used as a tool to promote the writer's favorite character or pairing. I mean, if you want to write Draco/Hermione, sure, but you have to work for it; don't try to sell me on it by bashing Ron, Harry and everyone around.
